Oil catch can installed-still get oil in CAI !!

Last December I noticed an oil spill on the garage floor....had never happened before. Turned out my MS CAI tube had oil in it and some had drained down to the filter and dripped from there.

Did some research here and decided to install a catch can which I bought from Fluid Motorsports. Before yesterday I only had to drain oil from the can on one occasion, about 3 ounces worth. I'm very careful about oil levels in the car. The car has been running great so I figured the catch can was doing it's job.

Yesterday morning...another puddle!! I checked the catch can and it had 4-5 ounces in it but oil STILL got to my new filter through the intake. What am I missing here??

Any ideas??

I have the same one. CAN'T figure out why this happens so infrequently, i drive the same way every time i'm in the car.

read my thread..

cap the intake nipple and the nipple on the oil catch can and just have a hose running from the oil filler to the catch can.. im hoping that will solve my problem.. pluz clean the air filter and MAF!

^2nd - cap the intake port and just put a breather onto the outgoing port of your catch can.

If you do this and still get oil in your intake... I would say its ghosts and call a priest.

OK, thanks for the tips. Any idea where the other two hoses that plug into the intake come from?

Don't remove the other two hoses coming from the intake:

OK, put a filter on the catch can and capped the vac fitting on the intake last night after work, I'll see if it solves the problem. Thanks.
Still don't understand how so much oil got in the intake with the catch can in place though.

Is your having the same issue?? Mine after i cleand the intake and the maf it feels like its lugging itself at low rpm.. And while at idle is stumbles a bit.. I put some throttle body cleaner and it helped out a little bit but it still stumbles.. Im going to try to seafoam it and let it sit overnight and see if that helps.

Mine stumbles occasionally at idle, but it has done that since day one, some days it does it more than others. That has never been a big problem.
Haven't experienced any low rpm lugging, or high rpm lugging for that matter. Got 3 redlines in on the way to work this morning and it was screaming!!

mine screams to.. but it just feels sluggish at low rpms.. took it in to get compression test will post results when i get them.. they sure are taking forever... its ben there all day.

did you ever work out where the oil was coming from? I had the same thing today. oil in the intake and it defiantly didn't come from the filler neck.

So if I understood the original post correctly the catch can was installed incorrectly and the vacuum that was there from the intake was still pulling the oil into the intake as it came out the filler neck. From what I have read oil coming out the filler neck can be pretty normal depending on how full you keep your oil. With 3oz of oil in a catch can there is an overfilling issue but that is neither here nor there. Vyn has had his catch can installed for the entire summer and last I heard it is still empty. Oil can only get into the intake tube from one place...the filler neck. So either get the TSB that reroutes the filler neck to the maint. ports on the lower intake manifold or install a catch can.
