Oil on Air filter + Strong fuel smell on oil dipstick!!!

Hello everyone:

I have a 04' RX8 MT, I bought it about a week ago it has 41k miles, no problems with it yet. It runs strong and everything works fine.

My issue is that I notice oil on my air filter and I took a look at the oil dip stick (it looked fine), but with a strong fuel smell. I went to the dealer and they told me that it might be a compression problem and they made an appointment to have it checked out. My worry is that they turn around on me with a lot of BS and keep my car in the shop for weeks.

Need suggestions on what the problem might be and what kind of questions to ask to the dealer. Thanks

a recall will solve most of your problems... the oil in the air filter has happened by not getting the funnel down far enought in the filler hole...

Try searching. There is a lot of--mostly good--information on the oil-in-the-air-filter problem. As far as the fuel smell in the oil goes, that is not particularly unusual. If you are really concerned, send a sample of the oil off to Blackstone Labs when you next change the oil. See the attached image of Blackstones comments on my first oil analysis.
