Odd Revving Issue? Need Help!
 

I recently started noticing that when i stop at traffic lights and leave my car in neutral my rx8 would periodically automatically rev to around 2k and the drop down, then back up to 2k and then drop back down.

this cyclic revving doesnt occur all the time, but in fact seems to happen ever so often, sometimes not at all. i never notice any issues in shifting, loss of power, or any detriment to acceleration at all.

ive changed my coils, plugs and wires at the beginning of the year and i have no idea what this could be. My car's only mods are a greddy sp1 exhaust and a bhr midpipe

im not very mechanically inclined, so any suggestions would be very helpful

try cleaning your ess, maf and do the 20 brake stomp

If it goes away with the clutch depressed that's exactly what it is.
