Odd electrical problems
Hi,
Every once in a while my headlights will not turn on. I flip the switch inside and nothing happens. The high beams work, so I end up having to keep my high beams on to get home and blind everyone driving by me. A weird thing that happened the other day is the headlights would not turn off! The switch was off and the lights were still on. I switched relays and it seems to work now, but is there any other reason this would happen? Also, sometimes when I press the volume on the steering wheel the radio will restart a song or go from cd to radio or vis versa rather than turn up the volume. Why would this happen? thanks |
When you have electrical problems where a device gets power intermittently when a switch is used, a stuck relay is a likely suspect.
Only problem is the headlight relay is for both your low and high beams, so a bad relay would affect both. The light switch itself could be defective. Now with that said... you mentioned electrical issues with the steering wheel controls too. You might have some funny wiring/electrical issues going on in your steering wheel that is affecting both the light switch and the controls. This is one of those, "if you're still under warranty, let someone else deal with it!" |
You might want to swap a few Relays for your Headlamp one to see what may be the cause...
Many of the relays are ALL the same...up to 12 in fact (depending on Country) The same relays are used for the following...Part Number B115-67-730 Headlamp (HID Discharge Type) Tail Lamp Cooling Fan Heater ACC Defogger Air Conditioner Horn Seat Warmer Front Fog Light Rear Fog Light The same relays are used for the following up to 3...Part Number L110-67-730 Ignition Starter Cut Headlamp B115-67-720 (One) Cooling Fan |
