Not the usual headlight haze problem
 

I could use some advice. I had the typical headlight haze that most owners have and by suggestion of this board, I bought the 3M Headlight restoration kit. For those of you that don't know what it is, it's basically system that you connect to a drill that has 500 grit, 800 grit, 3000 (wet) grit, and a compound for shine.

So I did one headlight per the directions, but I didn't like the result because it hadn't removed all that clear. I did the other headlight using only the wet 3000 grit and the compound and I liked the results. I then switched back to the other headlight figuring that I didn't apply enough pressure or sand it enough. I went through the entire process again and now my headlight it totally hazed over and no amount of compound can get it clear!

Is it possible to take too much plastic away? I really didn't take too much. I did sand in all directions though. I saw some other sites that recommended sanding in one direction for one grit, then in the other direction with the next.

I'm going to try Meguiar's PlastX to see if that can clear it up, but do any of you have any other recommendations?
