No sound!

Hi!

I just got my 2005 RX-8 yesterday and so far I am in love with it :bootyshak But there is one problem. They have replaced the battery for me at the dealership and when I turned the radio on it looked like it was playing but there was no sound coming out. Does anybody know how to fix that?? :sadwavey:

Also I just have a general request. Could anybody please explain (or give me a link) how to properly maintain the car and start/shut off the engine. I have never owned a car with a rotary engine before.

I appreciate the help!

Turn the key to the off position and then remove the key :)

There are those that rev the engine then shut it off, pointless IMHO, but there are those that swear by it.

You need to be more concerned with the warm up procedure. Once started never shut it off until it has reached operating temperature, otherwise it may flood. Also don't go over 3K RPM until the engine has reached operating temperature.

Check your oil every second fill up and add oil as necessary.

You should also replace the coils ang spark plugs every 30K miles, you need a very sound ignition system with this engine. You may also consider changing the spark plug wires, though I think it's only necessary every other plug change unless you see any splitting or other damage.

To keep carbon build up down, you should give it a good spanking once a day, a good WOT pull to redline in second gear does the trick.

HTH.

Good info, just make sure to do your redline pulls at operating temperature.

check your fuse box. My 8 did the same when i got it....It was a blown fuse

Read and understand the owner's manual.

Turn up the volume knob on the radio; it goes to zero when you disconnect the battery.

Read the noob thread. https://www.rx8club.com/rx-8-discuss...t-here-202454/
