No heat in winter, no can't stop the heat in summer

Even with the temp knob at the coldest, the vents just blow heated air out. All I can do is put it in recirc mode so at least outside air isn't forced through the heater core but it's still very hot inside. Is this related to the heater control unit? I did the diagnostic and the knob goes from 0 to 16 no problem.

Same problem

I’m having the same problem, I went to doswell this past Christmas with my fiancée and my daughter to see the light show and on the way home the heat just stopped working. I don’t have any heat at all unless it’s warm outside. I tried flushing the heater core there was a piece of trash in it that looked like a piece of bubble gum and it kind of helped. if the cars been running for a while it’ll blow semi warm for a few seconds then blows cold again and I have to turn the air off and wait a little while for it to blow warm again. Did you figure out/ solve the issue?

Sold it before finding the problem.

Ensure your cooling system is performing properly. Past that, the solder joints on the PCB for the HVAC controls are known to go bad. Mine stuck itself on heat, and wouldn't adjust no matter how much I turned the knob and wished otherwise. There's a guide on here somewhere that shows you how to self test the HVAC climate control setting. I cant remember the exact procedure to put it into test mode, but a quick search should yield it. Very simple, and easy to tell you if the HVAC is the culprit. If so, there is also a guide on here for redoing the joints. Easy fix.
