NGK Wires Firing Order

Hello all,

Just replaced my spark plugs/wires and was wondering what the numeric firing order was for those wires?

Is it from left to right, 1 top 1 bottom 2 top 2 bottom?

Thanks

Pretty simple. First two are leading, second two are trailing.

The bottom are the lead plugs.

Is this how your wires are connected?

Sorry for the stupid question but I just want to get them in right the first time around. Does the "1" go in front or back? I understand that the leading side is the longer wires and trailing side is the shorter wires.

18 month old thread resurrection

Scroll up and look at the pic posted. Just follow that exact order of plug wires. If the hollow lines that signify the plug wires confuse you, use the one with them colored in. Red to red, blue to blue, yellow to yellow, green to green, etc...

I just put these on my car last week. There are two wires labeled 1 and two wires labeled 2 if that's what your talking about. The only difference between wire labeled 1 and two is the length. Just match them up the diagram above.

For examples, coils 2 and 4 (counting from the front of the car) use the shorter plug wires. 1 and 3 used the longer ones.

Here's the NGK pictures

Since nobody has managed to post actual pictures of an actual NGK set, here they are, with added numbering.

The 1's signify rotor 1 at the radiator end of the engine, rotor 2 is firewall end, didn't mark L or T for Leading or Trailing because length spells out where they go. NGK wire set placement with air bellows removed, looking from radiator.
NGK wireset replacement, driver's tire removed for access and visibility, Left wires are rotor 1, right wires are rotor 2.

TN low budget fixes please, limited income

So I havent had the money to work on the RX8 much so I havent done much for a while, but have been trying to get it running right being I will most likely be moving soon, that being said I have kept the seals lubricated and kept additives in the fluids, and it does run but not right, the rpms wont go above 3k and wont idle had a clogged cat fixed that temporarily bought new MAFS new coils, plugs, and wires, put new fans in because had shorted one, replaced o2 sensors for what I have done, now the issue is wont idle drops too low, runs and sounds good between 3k rpms and 1k, does anyone know what else it could be, it is pushing code p0102 and p0113 but I have the air filter off at the moment? Any Ideas???

Sounds like your MAF is disconnected which makes sense if you've got the intake apart? Car can't run properly if it doesn't know how much air its getting.

Not going over 3k is usually an OMP issue, either electrical connection to it or misalignment if it was reinstalled poorly. Has it ever been removed? The codes for it are Mazda-specific and may not show up on a basic scanner.

You replaced some stuff that may not have been necessary. O2 sensors don't give the symptoms you have for example. Slow down, diagnose before throwing parts at it.

I really want to say that RX-8 and limited budget don't mix, but if you are insisting on getting the car running right...

As Loki mentioned, check the MAF sensor. You could follow instructions on repair manuals to see if the MAF sensor is fine, but if you have been running the car without an air filter(which you shouldn't do), it could have been pretty dirty. Give it a clean with MAF cleaner and please, put an engine air filter in.

Also, I never had to replace an MAF on my RX-8, but if it's not OEM, it might have some issues with scaling the data it reads properly to the ECM. Supposedly that's a problem with the Speed3, not sure if the RX-8 works the same way.
