New Clutch Issues
 

Ok so I have a 2004 with 103,XXX. I just recently replaced my clutch with a Stage 1 Spec when my pilot bearing blew up. I also replaced the friction plate on my lightweight Racing Beat flywheel. After giving it a while to break in I started driving it a little harder. The problem I have been having since I got my car back is when going from 1st to 2nd and 3rd to 4th while reving higher than 4000 rpm there is a slight grinding feeling. I also find it hard to put the car in to any of the gears while normal driving and at a dead stop. It goes into gear but it takes more effort than I feel it should with a brand new racing clutch. Also, every once in a while when I go to put the car in first or reverse with the clutch to the floor I get a hard and loud clunk as it goes into gear, almost as if the clutch was less than halfway in. I have been reading around on the forums and all of them lead to the same two options: adjust the pedal and bleed the clutch. I have done both of these and neither of them have helped it any. I was just wondering if anyone else has run into this same problem. Does it sound like it is more along the lines as bad syncros? Bad clutch master cylinder? Please help. I just want to be able to drive my car like it is supposed to be driven and not have to worry about going over 4000 rpm. :tear:

So you are saying to adjust the pedal some more and bleed the clutch again?

yes - it certainly sounds like the clutch is not fully disengaging .

It is common for the pedal to require adjustment after the clutch is replaced - especially with an aftermarket one .

OK. could it also possibly be a bad master clutch cylinder or slave cylinder? should i consider replacing either of those if adjusting the pedal some more or bleeding the clutch again doesnt work?

That's possible - but you just replaced the clutch , so most logical thing is an adjustment issue .

And the clutch is quite hard to bleed properly so maybe you ... how do i say ....... f**ked it up ?

well i had a friend do it so that is possible. plus he only bled it from the top end and from what i have been reading it sounds like it needs to be bled from both ends. ill just need to take it in to get it done properly. i was just trying to save some money since i am a broke ass

So i took my 8 in to get the clutch bled the other day and before they even got to bleeding it they came back and told me that my clutch master cylinder was leaking. I have one ordered and it should be here at the latest monday. My question is whether this is a simple enough project for a novice mechanic like me to do or should I just pay $180 to go get it installed? I looked at what needs to be done to remove and replace it and it seems like it could be simple but I just dont want to F it up. I have also looked all around for a DIY for the replacement of this and cant seem to find anything. Help?:dunno:
