Need some help guys

Soo my cel came on after cranking my car. i forgot the code number but it said it was a very small emissions leak. Will driving my around until pay day hurt it in this condition? Also does having the cel on affect performance?

I would check your gas cap? Did you get gas recently?

If CEL you got was P0442 or P0456, then invasion's guidance is spot on. Could just be the cap isn't seated properly after gassing up recently. If you reseat the cap and the CEL doesn't go away on its own after a couple of drive cycles, the cap itself may need to be changed. You don't mention any details about your vehicle, but older models of Series 1 vintage have a long history of failing gas caps. The cap's design was subsequently changed by Mazda. Do some looking around if you want, the new cap from Mazda is relatively cheap and is easy to install. There are also OEM products that others have switched to.

Did it work ? I'm having the same problem too....2 weeks ago I took off the CEL with my friends scanner and it just came back on last night. Maybe its time to change the fuel cap considering I have 124,XXX miles on my car lol
