Need help with Ram Air Duct
 

Just installed the Revi Intake and then faced several problem with the Ram Air Duct.

1. Is the end that joins the revi ntake box supposed to go into the hole and fit snuggly or is it just hanging in front of the hole and supported (not very solid support) by the brackets?

2. Brackets provided seems to be 1.5 inches shorter.

3. Not using the duct atm, should i lose the piece of plastic below the VFAD so the REvi can breathe or should i install back so air can be ducted better to the radiator?

Appreciate any help.

I am running the stock air box with the ram air intake.
IIRC the duct does not tuck into to the hole, it sit in front of it supported by the brackets. I modified my VFAD to create a seal.

Thanks. Is the 2 brackets that support the duct roughly 3.5 inches in length or is it about 2 inches? Mine is way way off the screw hole so I cant support it.

I don't really remember When it quits raining I will take to bumber off and check.

^^thanks, no need for that anymore. I should have researched more, the rebar for US and non-US RX-8 is very different, causing the fitment issues on mine.

And yeah, it just kind of sits in front of the hole, but it should have come with rubber that fits around the inside of the hole and makes somewhat of a seal.
What'cha going to do.....make your own brackets to get the duct up to where it should be? Does it fit otherwise?

Yeah I'm gonna get some stainless steel shelves brackets or ebay a pair of adjustable air splitter support rods for it and fashioning some kind of airtight seal.

Problem is its hard to find anything in my country. We don't have homedepot, autozone or any decent size hardware store, its just stupid...

Duct tape and a clothes drier hose! :)

Mine didn't come with anything to seal to the opening but it was a pretty snug fit

Mine didn't either. I believe this comes with the intake box not the duct.

I put both in and the same time.
Let me go consult the directions.

Might give some ideas as what you could if you use if wanted by looking at the picture.
My RAM air sits pretty snug against that foam rubber.

Finally got a pair of stainless steel bracket to support the duct. Drilling the holes for the bolts took out 2 drill bits and nearly blinded someone when the bit fell apart.

Good news is the custom brackets are so strong I didn't even need the top bracket and I got some rubber (those for making aluminium sliding doors for buildings) and made an airtight seal.:D:

It's amazing how bit can just shatter if not using the exact right type and putting pressure on it!

I cut up my vfad to create a seal for the RB air duct, works perfect.

How did you attach to the opening, or did you just stick it in the duct and then the air box opening?

That's the same thing I did. I just stuck it in there, not really anyway for it to come out.
