need help don't know whats up with my car

hi every i just got a bit of problem with my 2005 at rx8 one day i was driveing normaly just went to the supermarket probley about 10-20mins drive and way home my car just lostpower and wont start up again so i towed my car home and 1 week later i tryed to start the car up and my car started to go but pouring out a black smoke i am geting it was the unburnt fuel but then my car stoped in about 4mins or so i asked mazda to come and tow it from my house so they did.

1week later they told me that my 4 of my coil pack is gone so they replace the coil pack on my car and week later they say that the car is not finshed yet.

and now this it the part i NEED HELP when i went to mazda today they said that the is car is not done yet but they mange to start the car up but it turns off in 10secend or so i asked them did you do the rotary compression test and they said yes every thing is ok and nothing comes up on the diagnostics they are not to sure why the car is turning off and what is coursing the problem any one had this problem before ???

They're lying to you about the compression test.

are you using AT ?

Those are two of the longest run-on sentences I have ever seen...

Sounds like a blown engine (and NOT like a melody, anyone remember that song ? :mdrmed: )

Ask them to do a compression test and give you the results. It also sounds like you need 4 new of everything: plugs, wires, coils.

If everything is OK, and ONLY then, should they proceed to check anything else....

Edit: for future reference, when posting try to use at least *some* grammar, spelling and syntax checkers -or your own brain, it's easier :hahano:

A blown motor will run just fine, it will just have difficulties firing up, and *some* vibration in general. Also, as you may expect, power output will be limited quite dramatically. But otherwise it will run just fine (if you haven't blown more than 1 seal).

If it's there for so long, ask them to give you the compression figures for each rotor. It should be easy for them. Also by using new spark parts you should have no problems if the engine was flooded.

Also, just a thought: did you have problems with your alarm/immobilizer ?

If it passes the compression test, I dont think its blown, check your cat, maybe it failed and all clogged up inside.

That's not necessarily true - especially for the Renesis. With the way the seals get chewed-up in the Renesis the rotors will have trouble spinning. In my case, the engine wouldn't turn at all after driving about 2 miles after it blew. The starter didn't even have enough force to overcome the internal damage.

What you are describing is the case if the seal is cracked but still in position. I have a feeling that many people are driving with cracked seals but just don't know it. I think I did before it finally gave way.

they said some thing about alarm/immobilizer but all they ask me was if i had any aftermarket one and i said no i don't i only got the factory immobilizer on my rx-8 .

but the funny thing is that they say that it fires up fine and no vibration and very thing runs fine but what they don't understand is that it cut out in few secend every time.

and when i say no vibration they mean nothing over the limit.

i am going to go in later on this afternoon so i am going ask them to check the seal and the car maybe

thanks for the help you guys

Most service depts these days don't know much of anything, particularly if they've never seen it before. If the computer doesn't throw codes, 90% of the time they'll just start checking and replacing all the crap the book tells them to.

All 4 coil packs going doesn't sound right. Sounds like one or 2 died and they just went ahead and replaced them all. Coil packs can just die, or something can cause it. It's hard to say. Here's a possible scenario: coil packs give out, engine floods badly, which kills the plugs and the cat. Now car doesn't run.

I'd definately ask for a copy of the compression results, just to make sure they checked it. Good luck in your struggles, regardless. :)

thanks man that sounds about right about the dept i will definatly ask for a copy of compression test today.

and i just got a question but if there is a blown motor when it blow does it make any noise or anything ??
