need help car not starting up after sitting there for 6months

How’s it going everyone I just got a problem with my rx-8 I had a crash at end of last year and it been at the panel beats for 6 month and it just been sitting there for 6 months or so with the battery disconnected and not been cracked for the 6month or so, he just changed the oil and he was just trying to start it up but nothing it cranks up but no sparks happening.

What do you guys think it causing it? by the We dd checked the ign fuse but that wasn’t.

When you say "no sparks happening" are you implying that the spark plugs were checked individually for ignition?

not yet he is going to do that first thing in the morning, but bit wird that it flooded the engine from just seating there. i just hope it something not serious i had a enought of problem lol

Have you tried to de-flood the engine per your owner's manual?

yushinrt 05-20-2008 01:02 AM

Yea I tried but nothing ay but mind you when I was trying to de-flood the battery start to go flat. I am problem going back there tomorrow to see what happened.

The one time I flooded my engine and tried to de-flood it, I had to charge the battery several times before it would start. When I finally got it going, I had white smoke pouring out the exhaust for about a minute.

Sometimes, the battery is too weak to turn the starter fast enough to start. By this time, it is flooded, so pull the spark plugs out and dry them. Also, inject some oil through the vacuum manifold ports, then crank the engine with the accelerator to the floor (to spread the oil but not add gasoline). Then jump start it. Also, might consider getting the Optima Yellowtop battery - a world of difference...

Just tow it...it saves a lot of time and energy doing it the other way

Just be ready for a real smokeshow :)

yushinrt 05-30-2008 11:21 PM

i got optima yellowtop lol.

ok we got the car started.

we don't really know what the problem was in the first place,it was flooded but don't really know what fixed it .

so this is what we did
1.i cleaned the o2 sencer and did the de-flooding method still nothing
2.so we pulled the sparkplug and cleaned it but nothing
3.we notice the gas was on low so we put some race petrol(that is all we had)
still nothing so we gave up for the day
4.next day we tryed it again and it just started up sweat lol

by the way when i say petrol was on low i don't mean empty still had around 1/4 petrol

odd - if you didn't have an auto you could have tow started it :)
