Need engine help. Won't crank but I have power
 

Folks need some engine help here. 2004 RX8 with 70k. Plugs and coils changed at 60K. There are no codes stored or being shown by the CPU. The engine will not start at all. When I turn the key all of the accessories power up, but the engine will not even attempt to crank. The starter was replaced recently with an updated started in October. Again the everything does what its supposed to do when I turn the key but the engine does not even attempt to crank. The car was sitting in the paint shop overnight waiting to get the paint refinished. The day I bought the car in and the day they stripped the paint everything was fine. They came in the next day to paint the car and the engine would not even attempt to turn over. :scratchheThey refused to touch the car because it's a rotary. The car has over half a tank of gas in it. Please help. Any idea is appreciated, Thanks.

Sounds like they messed up something when stripping it....

Are you saying the starter doesn't spin?

Is the security light on? It is possible they messed up the security module..maybe try another key?

If it isn't..confirm that there is enough voltage to crank it......

I'm having the same issue....plenty of fuel and spark (voltage). Ran fine when i parked it yesterday...no fuses blown.

To me it sounds like the starter is trying to spin but its the engine isn't doing anything. I am not getting the familiar noise of the rotary turning over. What is the deal with the possible security light being on? when the secruity system light is on what does that mean for the key? Can anybody shed some light on that for me please? Thank you

We did use a charged battery booster To try and give the car a jump to boost the battery, that did not work either.

Roughly the same issue- without paint stripping involved. I've replaced battery and relays, still no crank.

Check the 10amp ENGINE fuse under the hood in the big fuse box. Also listen for relays to click as someone else turns to start. Don't you love technology.

If the security system doesn't recognize the key....it won't do anything when you turn the key :)
