Need authorization from Mazda to open transmission?

I called this afternoon to check on my car and was told they verified the problem occuring "numerous times" this morning and so have the car in the shop while they try to decide what to do next to track down the problem and repair it. They told me they have to get authorization from Mazda first before they can open up the transmission. I'm not sure if that's true, but opening the transmission was supposed to be the next step after changing the fluids, according to the service person the last time I had it in about two weeks ago.

That is true, because opening tranny = cost a lot.

My local technician say's they have to call Mazda and get a case # and take any suggestions that they may have. Then wait for the OK to disassemble or replace on what Mazda say's.

That makes sense. Last time they had to replace the fluid before they would be able to do anything else, and that didn't work at fixing the problem for more than a day or two at most. Yesterday they were telling me if they couldn't find the problem again they wouldn't be able to look at it anymore unless I paid for it because more often than not it wouldn't duplicate it for them when they'd take it out, which was usually about an hour or so after I dropped it off and it was still hot as they are about 23 miles from my house, so they always have to let it sit overnight outside to have the best chance of duplicating it, which I finally talked them into doing last time when they finally verified the problem, and again this time. So now I'm just waiting on them to get authorization to continue to track down and repair the problem. Hopefully it doesn't end up being a really long time I'm without my car.
