Recently my car was flooded I took it to the dealership they said I need new spark plugs so I got them and put them in. And it wouldn't start and they told me it was my starter I'm installed it and it was still a little slow on getting the spark drove into town turn it off and when I went to go back and start a car wouldn't start it just turned over in my check engine light came on saying that my cranks at shaft sensor went out so I reset the car tapping on the break and took the battery out for 10 mins and it started so the next day I drove to work as soon as I turn off my car I try to restart it and it won't start 30 minutes later I go to my car start it fires up after 4 seconds anyone know why

Since you had a code for the E-shaft sensor, I bet it's the e-shaft sensor. Remove the air filter box and look down next to the front main pulley on the driver's side. There is a sensor sitting next to the pulley. That's the sensor in question, and it's a magnet. Clean it off real good, then do the 20-brake-pedal-stomp reset and see if you keep having trouble.

There's not a single period or comma in that huge run-on sentence.

As I said, your e-shaft sensor could do it easily.

The sensor is used by the ECU to know where the e-shaft is in it's rotation, and thus where the rotors are. If the ECU can't figure out where the rotors are, it doesn't know when to inject fuel or when to fire the coils for a spark. Cranking without fuel and spark will mean no start. Every single time.

Possibly. It's right above the steering rack and not many openings there. It's about as much work to remove the air box as it is to lift the car, not to mention lifting the car and removing the splash pan (which would probably be the needed thing to do).

Well I cleaned up the sensor real good. Got everything put back together fired right up then I did my 20 break thing and try to start it it took a little longer and then my check engine lights on. I let it idle for a little bit then shut off try to start it it took about 6 seconds so I am plug the battery for 10 minutes then tried to start it fired right up so I drove it around for 25 mins and parked waited about 5 mind and it would just crank any ideas?

So after you cleaned the sensor and it fired up, why did you then so the 20 BRAKE stomp?

So now you also have a check engine light, so go get that code read and tell us what it is.

We also need the rest of the history of the car, such as last time plugs or coils were changed?

What year is the car?

Where are you located?

Quit firing it up and turning it off right away until we know more about this car. You could simply be semi-flooding it and this could be part of the issue.

ripwwp said to do it after i clean the sensor. The car is a 04 and the spark plugs was changed last month i have no clue on the coil. I live in nebraska. the mazda dealer told me to run my rpm at 6g for 3 seconds and let go of the gas and turn off the car at the same time to burn off all that gas.

That isn't very good advice imo. I mean think about it...

If you turn off the engine the ignition isn't firing. How exactly is it supposed to burn that gas?


No, that isn't the problem here. what you do when you turn off the engine when it's hot has zero impact on what happens when you try to start it later.

Have you gotten a compression test recently? Could be a combination problem, with the hard start when hot problem common with compression failure.

so the cel is my ssv. is there anyway to clean that? and would it stop my engine from starting when the engine is hot??
