my car keeps stalling

Its been happening a lot lately Where I would get to a stop sign or red light when i stop and go to hit the gas my car stalls. Why is this doing it?

Its a 2004 rx8 with 60,000 miles on it and I flooded it once.

Maybe the separator between the S1 and S2 forums should be in big black letters with "2004-2008" and an arrow pointing up, and "2009-2011" and an arrow pointing down.

Does it only do it when the car is hot? Typically stalling and hot starts mean a loss of compression and a failing motor. BUT, stalling can be caused by a vacuum leak from a hose or a leak in the intake tract. Inspect everything and clean your MAF sensor.

Bad coils usually will results in bogging due to misfires and overall sluggish behavior. For me the two times my factory coils failed it was very obvious and power returned immediately.

Do the coils fail in these cars because they're cheap or because they have to spark 50% more often than in a piston engine? I guess really those are two sides to the same coin, but still, I'm curious.

Yes, they just suck, bother versions. I'm not sure why they fail but I think under hood temps play a big part. I have the BHR kit and the Yukon coils have heat sinks on each coil. I have about 22,000 miles on the BHR kit and never had an issue. If you plan on keeping the car for a while it's worth the investment.

I'll keep that in mind, thanks. Might even add a couple CPU fans to the heatsinks while I'm at it. Can't hurt any, right?

Adding heats sinks would be funny but I doubt it would improve much. From what I know, none of the current version BHR kits have failed. Mine have been through two years in Texas without issue.

Can you link me to the kit you got? I've got 10,000 miles now, so I'll probably need to replace them in a couple years. By then I will have certainly forgotten the name.
