My AC is confused goes from hot to cold

It's funny, for some reason my heat doesn't work unless I turn the knob to cold and then it only works for a few minutes, the AC is doin the same F'n thing this is gonna be a Loooooong summer if I don't figure out how to fix it, hopefully without takein it to the dealer. ANY IDEAS ???????:banghead:

What do you mean by it does not work? You rotate the temp knob all the way clockwise to hot (or ccwise to cold), put the air flow to face and feet, then turn on the fan and what happens?

realBlackSunshine 05-25-2009 02:09 PM

if you turn it to hot , it is neither hot nor cold. turn it to cold it is neither hot nor cold somewhere in between you get full cold and full hot, the nob is confused. in other words it's not as easy as turn it all the way left for cold and all the way right for hot cause the F**KIN thing don't work right. trust me it was bad enough tryin to find the hot air during the winter, finding the cold air for summer is gonna suck, I don't want to take it to the dealer if I don't have to

The temp control knob is known to go bad. There are diagnostics test and DIY to fix it if that's your problem. Search and post if you don't find the DIY which has the diagnostics and fix.

There is a TSB about the A/C Amplifier being faulty. It appears to be an electrical piece that can only be replaced to resolve the issue. I'm sorry I don't have the link to the TSB but it's out there.I have an 04 and my A/C does this, on a hot summer day with a/c on. It will be cold for a few minutes then go lukewarm then cold again and back. Annoying but not enough to make me want to spend the money on a new A/C Amplifier...

Its not the AC Amplifer. unless its a 04 the problem is long gone.

its the knob thats bad, I had one, replaced under warranty about 2 yrs ago. Its working.

Op never check back ? :(

ITS YOUR KNOB DAMN IT ! :P

You can fix it yourself, its not hard and it takes maybe 30 minutes to remove/fix/install back.

Basic soldering skills required. its sooo simple even u never did it before. u need a set of cheap soldering set, radio shack has them for I think 16 bux.

DIY is here. search for it.

if for some "weird" reasons u just want to buy a new HVAC control, thats cool too, but its about 280 bucks.

you do the math.
