Multiple problems!!! need help

ok i have a 05 rx8 at w/60,000 mi. so i had problems like everyone else with the misshifts, car idling rough while at stops in drive, accelerating slowly etc. So i took it to a mazda dealership for them to look and they said it needed a new right motor mount, sparks plugs, and cabin air filter. They were going to charge 1000 to fix it but i said no and took it to a mechanic to fix. The mechanic changed both engine mounts and i thought all was good but then my wife was driving it after it was outta the shop and it died TWICE. took it back to the mechanic and he test drove it and it died 4 times on him. So now what?

I think i need to change the ignition coils and wires but im a noob so not def sure what has to get changed and what not. Hoping for some info plz. This is costing me alot so anything that can be done by myself is a plus.

Sorry for the long post but just really PO.

get a compression test if it is dying, specially if the plugs, coils, wires are in good working order.

luckly you are still in the 8yr/100,000 mile engine warranty so if the compression is bad, you (hopefully) get a reman engine.

When were the plugs changed last......I'd start there if it was more than 15K miles ago ( $80-100 parts DIY)

Then coils/wires if the plugs don't help ( $150 parts..DIY)

If it still runs poorly..compression and or vac test ( $100 labor)

well i bought it used about 2 1/2 years ago with 37,000 miles so i dont think they changed any plugs or coils. imma change them 2morrow but not sure if that'll work. i have the marbles in a can noise from my engine so i figured it needed to get replaced soon but when the mazda tech checked it he metioned nothing about coils just plugs. they said it was good to drive. i never had it die before so i was shocked when my wife said it died 2 times on her and 4 on the mechanic.

If you have a bad engine they will make you change your plugs, coils and wires anyway...so you are not losing anything if they don`t solve the problem

Try that...and see if it fixes the problems...and reset the ECU and KAM profile and give it a few drive cycles to settle down

Otherwise take it in and have a compression or Vac test

Like dannobre said change the plugs/coils/wires first and see if that takes care of it...are you getting a blinking CEL?
