Multiple issues

Where do i start, well i am hearing my engine run through out the speakers, it is an aftermarket head unit, i didn't install it, i go to turn it off and it turns itself back on, another issue i am having is the lights for the AC and controls for the AC all of them are lite up, i have no idea what setting it is on, the above display where it normally would have the temp for outside and time displays a code starting with K, also the light for ABS is always on, along with DCS, last thing is i think i may have an exhaust leak because when i put the windows down i can smell exhaust while driving. If this happens to everyone else then i am being stupid and disregard, i guess the main thing i need to know is the more important stuff like the abs and exhaust. The other are issues i just want to know if yous are having the same issues.

Here is the list,

-sound thru stereo plus turning back on by itself
-lights for AC controls
-display for temp is displaying code
-ABS and DCS lights are always on
-exhaust leak

Thanks always disgruntled vet.

Sounds like someone botched the head unit install. Some one was mid way into installing an after market unit on my car...and so I had to do a little re-wiring. If you're able, you may take the after market stereo unit off, and find that the problem can be visually identified both for the Ac controls and head unit. If you do chose to do this, just be careful and patient. When I took my head unit out, it was areal pain the ass, and I broke some plastic pieces in the process because I was incredibly pissed.

As for exhaust, you can get underneath the car and look for cracks and/or black sooty spot. You can also pin point the opening by smell/sound too.

Thank you, i ripped the head unit out, found that the ACC red wire was connected to the yellow wire and vis versa, i fixed that, looked at the rest of the wiring, i found the ground was done wrong, i fixed that, so now i am still having issues with the head unit, it still turns on by itself, thats after i turn the car off, i am just having issue after issue, errrrrr lol

Plus side is i fixed the display code, i went out and bought another axxess box since the red and yellow wires were crossed, i assumed the new control was blown, and it fixed the AC buttons along with the displayed code, it now says whatever i want on the display, i have boats and hoes just for shits and giggles.

So the only issues i have are the head unit staying on, DSC light, ABS light, and exhaust, i am assuming now since i can smell the exhaust this doesn't happen to the other cars out here.

I will take the car to the shop this weekend and let you know the out come hopefully this helps others with that same issue, or issues, they may be having.

Thank you for helping.

I've had a issue with ABS and traction light. I found my problem to be one tier was lower on pressure than all the others tripping the system out because the one was moving at a different speed than the others all the time. I put air in and all fixed might not be your case but fast and easy to check. One other indicator of tier pressure or a badly worn tier is the car pulling to one side on hard exseleration.

Hi Guys

I wasn't sure where to post this as I cant create a new thread for some reason.

I have a 2007 RX8. When i drive the car at higher speeds 140km/h to 180km/h I would randomly get a quick hiccup (it feels like i quickly let go of the accelerator and quickly accelerate again. This happens in like 1 sec). At first i figured it might just be user error. but its an often occurrence. it would happen 2-3 times in a distance of 30km and only happens when i reach higher speed basically when the rpms are around 6k-8k in 5th or 6th gear.

Has anyone experienced something like this and maybe know what the cause could be?

I had the same issues when i got my oil changed by an unarthorized mazda dealership because they put to much oil in there, but its fine now.

The only time I've had trouble with exhaust smell was in my 77 Datsun when it blew the exhaust manifold seals. It is imperative that you replace them if they are bad, as both your gasket and head are aluminum, and the exhaust gasses will eat them away.

Check your engine right where the exhaust meets the engine. You are looking for any black discolorations, which indicate soot buildup from escaping gasses.

While it's running, if you hear any sharp popping noises, that is escaping gas, and you need to replace that gasket (inexpensive, but a major pain in the rump).

Dreb how long have you owned a rotory car? We have no heads and the exhaust header gasket is steel.

Ok so the lights in the car along with sound thru speakers, i fixed that, the wiring was done wrong thank you Ber1n, i had to find the control box for that controlled the temp and air, apparently it was backwards, it messed up that box, so i had to buy a new dash kit so i could get another box. That also took away the problem with the display and now i can put in my own caption at the top. Still having issues with the other stuff, i just cant find out what is wrong, but i did find out that i need a new cv boot on the rear, so i am going to replace the axel since i have no clue how long that has been an issue. I am taking a guess and not saying this may be the problem, but they may have caused my DCS light to turn off, also i have to replace one of the sensors on the tire pressure system. I dont know if they connect together when it come to that control of the car or not.
