motor wont crank, thoughts???

hey all,

So i drove to my buddy's house after work on sat (30min drive) with no probs as usual. Had to move the car about 5 mins after i arrived and found that it didnt start. All electronics were working (radio, fan, dash, etc) but as i turned the key, nothing. No clicking sounds, no engine sounds whatsoever. I did notice that the radio turned off when i turned the key and came back on when stopped trying to crank the motor. I had tried to jump the car, nothing. The roadside guy said its most likely the starter. Just replaced the starter, no change at all. Im wondering if its the alternator or a short circuit somewhere but im stumped as of now. Any help is appreciated.

07 touring rx8, 6 speed m/t, stock all around. never flooded the engine, always let it warm up before driving. new battery and starter.

New battery, new starter, radio/lights work? I'm no mechanic, but it sounds like a bad connection between the starter and the battery. The starter should at least be doing something. If not, it's not getting power.

so test light the starter then?

Ah, I don't know how to *fix* it, but from my experience fixing/building computers, if something electrical doesn't work make sure it's plugged in!

lol true true. im going to have it tested for free at the dealership, they said they could test it for free and at least i'll know where to go from there. if it is a short circuit in the ignition system (which i think it may be) i might be looking at a hefty repair :/
