Misfire with new plugs, wires and bhr coils
I've got an 04 rx8.
It won't start-cel flashes indicating misfire. obd says misfire in cylinder 1. New plugs, new wires and new bhr coils. I put an ignition tester on the plugs to test. The trailing plug on the front rotor took a little over 3 seconds of cranking before it started firing. The other plugs started firing more or less immediately. I'm assuming that there's a problem somewhere from the ecm to before the coils. How would I go about testing the coil connector? Any suggestions as to how I should proceed with testing to figure out the source of the problem? |
Get a 5th spark plug pull coil out leave plugged into harness then have someone crank car watch for spark if all coils have spark check injector i believe 04 has fuel injectors? I'll check tomorrow I have a 04 as well

Leave all spark plugs in engine though find a different spark plug to plug in the coil to check for spark

I forgot to mention, I was able to start it via pull start. Wouldn't idle, low on power, after 5 minutes cat was cherry red.--this is prior to checking with the ignition tester.

Something wrong Internal I think I don't know much about rotary but if a valve leaks on exhaust side it will cause miss and cherry red cat on regular motors head can leak on exhaust side or exhaust valve bad

That almost seems like a bot generated post. |
