Misfire!!!!arrrrgh!!

Visited to Chicago today for motorshow.
both... when I was going and coming back, P0302, P0300, P0103 happened..
I mean... yeah... CELs...
I have OBD2 scan, so I can pull codes by myself....
changed all four coils, wires, plugs about 2000 miles before.
hmm.... I think I tried most things on this forum tho....
babed it, wires, coils, plugs, cats..... argh...
no powerloss at all...
power comes very smooth....
but seems like one of three vacuum hoses connected to MS CAI has some crack....
what do you guys think....? possibly?.... or clutch?... or O2 sensor
ah....... (T.T) ..damn...
seriously....
in 3rd gear, around 7K~8K RPM when I release foot from gas pedal, I can feel the fuel doesn't ignite perfectly...
it was full of gas, no gas cap problems....
possibly alternator? or... fuel pump?or........
engine flood?...nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo~~
help!!!!!! P L E A Z... want to know what the prob is...

just the thing is that there's no powerloss but when I release foot from gas pedal, there's little sputtering...(not like buck! more like.. br~br~br~)

That could just be the sound of the unburnt fuel backfiring in your exhaust. If you have an after market exhaust, the "over-run" sound, or burble/gargle is much more magnified. You said you babied it? If you have, then try to run her hard a few times. What is your year and mileage?

olddragger 02-10-2008 08:55 AM

fuel pump?
OD

DarkBrew 02-10-2008 10:02 AM

Your problem sounds familiar...
Footman had a CAI issue with CELs. Turns out his screens weren't installed correctly in the CAI tube.

x2

OP, you have given lots of info, but not what is needed..

the codes you give lead me to think vacuum leak. please also check the connection to the maf, you might clean it just for fun.. dont forget to reset the ecu after..

on a whim check to see if all plug wires are tight on the plugs.

beers

What I've done is...

What I've done is that pushing the odometer thingy (says "test" on odometer), and for ECU reset, unplug from battery, press brake rapidly, so Oil-P guage hits middle and turn the sterring wheel to lock to lock....(I think it's for E shaft sensor)
Car had bit of hardtime starting when warm or too cold. it was like, it cranks well as usual but ignition takes some time. All these happened right after installing MS CAI and MSD wires. I guess I gotta check if the intake is installed correctly. Also I may have to check if vacuum leak.
By the way, What Screen are you talking about DarkBrew?
Which tube?

What screen he is talking about ?

I dont have MS/AEM CAI but I think you need to take 1 of the mesh screen from the stock intake and install it as part of the installation for the CAI. Mazda call it *air straightener* for a reason you know.

You didnt do it ? ...

brokenhelmet 02-11-2008 10:41 PM

Ah..!!
mileage is like around 41K...
'05 tho...

brokenhelmet 02-11-2008 10:43 PM

One of this shop owner did installation for me tho...

Thats your problem.

Pull it out and re-check everything see if he install it right.

If you know how to build Lego, Im sure you will know how to do this.

brokenhelmet 02-11-2008 10:48 PM

Aite...thanks nycgps, I'll go check it and reply it back...

bose 02-11-2008 10:48 PM

it's in the tube before the maf

This is what they should look like.

Thanks to Footman for some really good pictures

brokenhelmet 02-12-2008 01:03 AM

hmm... -_-...

Just went to walmart, bought tools, took off the tubes (from maf to the front end of hood, retightened all the tubes, rechecked the mashes, fitted them right to the edge.
2 screens.... right? and where it fitted was right... compared it to the picture DarkBrew posted above...
and then resetted ECU, drove it on the road.
it seems like I can't get rid of this stuttering with this CAI maybe.....
dang.......
still same.....lotta stuttering in high RPM when I release my foot from gas pedal..
may be I have to get my stock one back in the hood and check the alternators also.
by the way... thanks to nycgps, swoope, darkbrew, bose and others helping me tho..

nycgps 02-12-2008 07:21 AM

high RPM shuttering could be bad fuel pump, carbon, and worst is bad motor.

so u might want to check it slowly.

Ophitoxaemia 02-12-2008 03:00 PM

my bet is something is loose/bad connector. keep looking.

Footman 02-23-2008 08:03 AM

I had my stock intake put back on after they took out the MS CAI with the faulty screen positions, and all the stuttering went away. All problems went away too.

Becareful, as that incorrect MAF reading causing the stuttering and all that has ruined plugs and a CAT. I got both replaced under warranty.

brokenhelmet 02-28-2008 05:49 PM

damn..

gotta replace the engine...
that's what dealer said...
FAQ!!!

nycgps 02-28-2008 05:59 PM

ok ...

Just curious, how much stuttering are you talking about?

TrochoidMagic 02-28-2008 09:09 PM

had a weird misfire incident recently and just decided today to borrow a scantool to pull the code... it was p0302, cylinder 2 misfire detected.

when it happened, it only flashed quickly and went away as RPMs not allowing to climb over 6k... tried again, same thing. third try, everything normal.

i have an '07 with 6-7k miles, magnecor 10mm wires, stock coils, h20/alt pulleys, rb ram and drop-in filter, and i also PREMIX.

seem to notice the power comes back on to more normal when i premix more than .5oz/gal.

i got the MAGNECOR 10mm wires right when i got the car, just to avoid this. but i guess it just happens.
