MIAC Success Report
Posted back in Feb-Apr 09 re MIAC. Performed the throttle body bypass surgery and promised a report when the hot weather tests were done. Happy to report complete success. Many long highway drives with interspersed city driving throughout the summer. No MIAC even on long 85+MPH drives on 95 to 99 degree Florida summer days. No power losses since the bypass. Running 93 octane Chevron and a can of Sea Foam in the gas every other time I top off with oil (~1/2 quart every 1K miles) to keep the carbon at bay.
A little advice. The pix posted with the previous post showed cheap plastic caps on the throttle body inlet and outlet. Don't use these caps without clamps. The air in the TB expands with normal heating and pops the cap off. I'm sure vibration doesn't help. Replaced them with heavy rubber caps when the parts store restocked. These stay on with no clamps.
