Massive loss of power

Hi,

i'm having a problem with what i guess is the clutch. While dirving the other day i tried to accelerate and hear a screaching sound and lost acceleration, i assumed it was the tyres but when trying to accelerate again there was no power at all.

I left the car for a few hours and when i drove it again it was fine for a while but then after a bit of fast driving and high revving the problem came back and i had very little power for the rest of the journey and struggled alot to go up hills. There was also some jerking when trying to accelerate. Again i left the car for a few hours and was able to return home but was too scared to try and rev high again incase the car died completely.

Any ideas what this could be? I've heard suggestions it could be the DSC stuck on but is it more likely to be a worn clutch? i burnt the clutch a while back but it seemed to be fine and i dont understand how leaving the car could suddenly repair the clutch for a while...

Sounds like your clutch is toast. When a clutch overheats, it looses friction ability, so cooling down will restore what you have. If it is happening that fast, then you have almost no clutch left, and need a knew one...

...and probably some more good practice on not burning it :)

i though it was the clutch but i took it to a garage this monring and he said that he didn't think it was the clutch as the revs were being limited rather than spiking like they would with a worn clutch?!

He said it might be some problem with the engine management. I took it out last night and gunned the arse out of it and it seemed to be fine
