Making a turn a getting something wierd

If I punch it from a stand still into an immediate turn my car makes this "clunk" sound from the rear. Its not really a clunck so much as it is like "chunk", then the car blasts off. Ifs like it goes from bearly moving to zoom. Like instead of feeling a dropped clutch in the transmission I feel it in the diff.

can someone explain to me?

Probably traction control, or the stability management keeping you from fishtailing?

well, maybe, but the light doesn't flash to indicate traction control is kicking on.

Is it possible it is the LSD in action. My understanding is for the LSD to work properly it has to allow slip while cornering and then lockup for straight line acceleration.

If you are starting from stop and accelerating while turning straight away (out of a driveway into the street) the LSD is going to be allowing a fair bit of slip so as not to light up the inside corner. As the car straightens up the LSD no longer allows the slip and now locks with all the power instantly going to both rear wheels and hence the sudden feeling of acceleration!

It makes sense to me that you would feel it in this situation as this is a short/sharp aggressive instant action as in normal cornering while moving the action required of the LSD is not as harsh and more fluid.

Just a theory but sounds practical to me.

cheers
