low idle at random times after sea foam

Its a 2004 MT with 80001 miles on it. w/ secret weapon short air intake.
I have replaced the spark plugs and wires about 2 months/3000 miles ago.
the idle was OK you can see...did not pay too much attention because the car vibrated so much from the motor mounts. This past weekend i changed the motor mounts and the car felt like a new car except for the idle. It doesn't vibrate when i accelerate like before but the idle was going from 1000 to 900 to 850 to 900. Not staying in place for more than 3 seconds. I decided to seam foam the car as I have been wanting to do that and clean the MAF with MAF cleaner from kragen auto parts. after the whole procedure i turned on my car let it idle and revved it up to 6k rpm when i got a flashing CEL. Probably a misfire from the sea foam i thought. It went away after a few seconds and has not come back since. I disconnected the battery fro 15 min and now the idle is even worse. when i get off the freeway in neutral it drops to 1000 then to 750 quickly to 500 and up to 800 stays there for a lil while then just moves around from 900 to 750 slowly every 2 seconds or so. I dont know if the short air intake noises are normal but 2 out of the 3 little hoses that come out of it after the MAF make really loud noises. one like a suction and the other like a whistle. I can tell because if i pinch them the noises go away. PLEASE help.
From what i have searched and read it could be the coils or maybe even the cat; however, i have not found a situation like mine so i can't really tell.
THANKS for reading

Clean the MAF and get rid of that piece of shit intake.

Your hoses should be capped off.

where do these hoses go. I see on that goes by the oil cap idk about the the other 2. I have been wanting to get a AEM or MS but the secret weapon was a gift

The secret weapon will only add to your problems. Return to stock until everything is straightened out. While you are at it, clean the MAF and air filter(compressed air on air filter to remove large debris).

You said you replaced the spark plugs and wires, what about the coils?

Did you seafoam the car on a HOT engine?

Do you premix? If you said no, start to. It will help smooth out a rough idle, although you seem to have another issue as well.

I did not replace the coild and the engine was HOT when i seafoamed it
I do not premix because i didnt think it was necessary for my car to have a normal idle.

always will be for the first 3-4 drive cycles .

otherwise - I agree with the others . Put the stock intake back on .

I'm gonna check the spark plugs to see why it misfired when i turned it on after sea foam then i'm gonna put the stock intake back on.
I drove it like 4 times already plus a 2 hour drive. the idle is still weird.

luisrsg 02-23-2010 02:46 PM

i'm not ignoring it. I'm just gonna do anything i can do for FREE then i'll buy coils if that doesnt work.

I appreciate the advise as well as I'm aware of that I don't think 200 more miles can hurt it while i try something that is free.
I don't know when they were replaced since i bought the car used. I replaced the plugs wires oil trans fluid all when i got it. I did not do the coils because i didn't have any more money :(. this was 3k miles ago. I'm gonna change my oil today also

Faulty coils places a lot of stress on your catalytic converter.

One little item like the coils (which are very important) will quickly affect a whole bunch of items on a rotary engine.

You might also want to contact Mazmart or some of the other vendors.

I know a lot of them stock OEM Mazda coils. Or you can bite the bullet and go with the BHR Ignition Kit.

Or if you're handy, you can build your own LS2 Coil Upgrade Kit.

Our ignition system was pretty pathetic from the factory and I can't say enough good things about my BHR kit. I even checked my plugs recently and they're burning oh so clean!

Either upgrade or get your new coils......your catalytic converter will thank you.
