Loud rapid clicking noise before car start up

Hello one and all!

Right from the top, have had my blue rx8 for about a year now and recently it has been acting up. First noticed a lack of power in the low rpm ranges. So I thought - well it hasn't had a service yet so i handed it to maxza for the 75k mile do over. That went will, only need to replace the anti roll struts as they has some give in them, other then that, all serviced normally.

After a month or so I was at some lights just pulled up, clutch went down put into neutral, engine died...I was like WTF?? and started him up again... Started after a few turns. And I drive away. Later on, a week later, same issue - clutch down, engine idle, very rough, dead engine. This continued about twice a week until last week.

Came off motorway, up slip ramp, clutch down engine died... But this time just kept tur ing and turning and sounding like it would start then not catch...:anger: got it going after 5 min of trying the starter, got it going but I did nt let it down below 3k rev for the rest of journey...

Then, just this week, went to car, started fine, drive for about, and I dont kid, 30seconds. Then jolt forwards, no power, wouldn't rev up at all just very harsh idle. So I turned it off. And this time he refused to start. Turning, engine noises ut no catch to normal running.

So I called AA and got them to tow home and diag it. They said it had a "misfire piston 1" which means ne of the rotors aren't fireing - he said needed new coils or plugs. Plugs change already so I went for coils.

After I changed the 2 for the first rotor, no luck, not even catching this time just turning and turning, some firings can be heard but no norma e vine noises...

Now - after I have tried for days to get it going I came to the car today, tried the key, light and normal electric starts, but on key turn just get a loud rapid clicking. I will be honest, the battery is going and is old but had more then enough juice the day before..

If anyone can help - it would muchly appreciated as I'm starting to give I'm on my sporty number.

Car is nmodified and has the number plate wit a 53 in it, ine 76k miles, long service history but nothing major relaced and been through all the re-calls..

it sounds like coils and now a dead battery. the clicking is the starter not getting enough juice to engage fully. you are most likely flooded as well. so your plugs are probably fowled. pull and clean them and follow the flooded car starting procedure.

once you do get it started you will more than likely get allot of smoke out the back as the uncombusted fuel gets burned going through the cat.

your cat will fail at some point later because of this
