K&N Filter Cleaning

So I took this out to clean it. I am using the K&N recharge kit.

Stupid me sprayed the oil on the clean side of the filter and not the dirty side.....

Should I be worried about this or no?

I suspect I just need to clean the darn thing again but I want to make sure I am not about to start blowing TONS of filter oil into the air intake.

no worries man, just redo the cleaning/oiling process and clean your maf to be on the safe side. easy peasy.

Just reclean it.

^ He hasn't used it incorrectly oiled, so no MAF impact.

I'd clean the maf anyway. lol. you never know much gunk can be on there, especially if you have never cleaned it. don't feel so bad, you can get plenty of use out of one cleaning kit. just be glad you don't have an aem dryflow because you only get one use out of each kit and they are ~$20 each! lol

We're not supposed to spray the clean side? I could swear my instructions (I'm at work, so I will paraphrase) were:

"Spray both sides with K&N Air Filter Oil and let the filter absorb for 20 minutes. Check the clean side to see if any areas are lighter than other areas, and spray those areas on the dirty side of the filter then let the filter absorb for 20 minutes. Repeat until the filter is an even color".

Or did you mean you sprayed the clean side to touch up the filter?

^ you're supposed to oil the outside air intake side, to help trap airborne contaiminants, but not the engine inflow side. Think K&N cone filter where you would only oil the outside.

the cleaner you spray on both sides. Oil is only the dirty side.

I mistakenly oiled the clean side and had to redo the entire process.
