i need help!!! please!!

ok so a couple of weeks ago the C.E.L. came on. about a week ago i noticed a loss of power.

well now my car struggles when idling and is normally idling at 800rpms or so idk but it has come close to stalling out on numerous occasions, severe loss of power, will not rev past 6000rpms at it struggles to get there pretty bad. i have no idea whats going on. its like its restricting itself while accelerating.

also at around 4300-4500rpms, it almost sounds like its hitting v-tec. it sounds like its gaining extra power which is very annoying. what causes this?

one more thing....when i am backing up, as soon as i push the brake a loud and horrible noise comes from the rear of the car. it sounds like it the differential but idk and its ridiculously loud.

i have a 2004 gt model 6speed with 51xxx miles. aem cold air intake and greddy se catback. can someone please help me or let me know how to fix it. this would be greatly appreciated!

thanks!

Jordan

Have you:
Had the CEL code read
Replaced plugs, leads, coils, cat.
Cleaned MAF
More info would help, there are a multitude of causes.

yes i have had the code read by Autozone. it says it is a "Secondary Air Injection system fault" then it says probable causes are 1. "circuit relay defective or fuse open" 2. "check connector and wiring" 3. "air pump defective or hoses blocked".

i have checked the fuses and they seems to all be fine. none are blown that i can tell. yes i cleaned the maf but i havent replaced any plugs etc...

Do you know how many miles are on your plugs, coils, wires?

he meant spark plug wires.
you should change the plugs every 30k and coils 60k if you want the car running perfect
I would suggest getting a compression test also check your catalyst converter for clogging since your air pump seems not working well according to the code you got

k what about the noise when i back up. any ideas about that??

DeViLbOi 10-28-2010 01:09 PM

Yes...I believe the noise is caused by the large rock you are trying to run over while you back up.

ahh we have a genius in our midst

FastFreddy61 10-28-2010 01:42 PM

No, not a genius, some ppl cant help talking shit.. Have you checked the rear brake pads, does the noise sound like metal on metal.

What real troubleshooting can you get from "a loud and horrible noise"? There are infinite possibilities for what could cause it. Do some troubleshooting...explain it better...hell, record it and post it on the net...but don't expect anything out of "a loud and horrible noise." Some would describe to hear "a loud and horrible noise" when their wives open their mouths...but that doesn't mean anything is actually wrong.
