How am I doing with these compression #s?

Hi ya,

Based on my earlier thread (loss of power, poor idle): https://www.rx8club.com/series-i-trouble-shooting-95/power-loss-blinking-cel-rough-idle-231376/

I sent the car to my usual Mazda dealership that services the rx-8 and mazda6. They did a compression test. Here are the numbers...

Rotor 1: 8.0, 8.3, 8.1 @234rpm
Rotor 2: 9.0, 8.7, 8.7 @234rpm

I looked up the Workshop manual. And I think it is within specs. But what do you think?

They say I need new coil for Rotor 1. Other coils tested to be fine. Will also be replacing all 4 plugs irregardless.

Car has around 35,000 KM.

Those are fantastic numbers. Most new motors come in at mid-8s at 250rpm. Your slightly lower RPM should bias a bit lower than that. So your front rotor is basically as good as new, your rear rotor is better than typical for new.

Wow. that's good to know. It is original engine. Not new fwiw.
