Mine whistles like that, but it didn't start until I took off my VFAD. When I plugged the vacuum line, it tore just a little and when under load at certain RPMs the car whistles, almost like a tiny turbo spooling. lol That's what I like to imagine anyway. ;)

where is the vaccum line?.... i would not doubt one bit that my dealer tore my line, they are a complete joke, broke pieces on my car several times (i only discovered it well afterwards tho), overfilled my gearbox and actually stole my winter tire and rims a couple years back!!!

when you remove the vfad, you remove all the vaccumm lines that go to it and cap the tb

When I did mine, I was in the middle of doing a bunch of other things (converting to HID, replacing my filter with the K&N, spark plugs) and it started pouring down rain. I just capped the lines and ran inside. XD I like the noise so I left it. I'm a dork like that, my wife gives me a hard time about it, but I like to pretend I'm turbo'd. XD

Hey Johnvx1k,

That noise you mention starting around 1:14 is exactly what I'm experiencing. I didn't notice it for the first 1000km on my engine but I've noticed it since then and am now at over 2000km.

It's a constant tone whistle just like in your video that only happens under load between 2800-4000rpm.

The noise "miker2005" has in his video changes pitch as the rpm rises, like in Johnvx1k's video mine stays at a constant high pitch.

I think mine is that way because I have the AEM CAI installed. If you are running a stock intake then you may have something else to look into.

well i did an evap test on my car last night (smoke test). found one of the vac caps on the service ports lim had a crack in it and one of the clamps on my intake tube wasnt tight enough. fixed both problems and redid the smoke test no leaks but its still making the noise. im out of ideas

Hi ns mits, I am experiencing the same exact sound as you and john, mine is an 07 auto stock intake. It happens in any gear around 3k rpm, and i can even control the length of the sound by lightly pressing the gas pedal and having it stay in the whistle sweet spot.

Have you had any luck in addressing this issue? it is driving me crazy.

I also have an '07 but with an AEM CAI. I just recently started having this problem. I notice it starts around 65-70 mph and it is a constant whistle. I have had the AEM for a few months, but the whistling didn't start until after my most recent day at the track. Is it possible this is normal for the AEM and it starts once you drive the car hard for large amounts of time? I did take my car to the dealership and had them check my Cat and do a compression test and everything was fine. The car runs fine and they couldn't find anything else wrong so it is possible it is just a "perk" of the AEM CAI.

Johnvx1k 09-16-2012 03:25 PM

Well I originally thought it was just from the AEM, but I took it apart to clean it after discovering some oil in the tubing and it has not made any sounds since then. I am assuming there might have just been a small gap in the system somewhere that created the noise. I also took off the TB and cleaned that so it could be related to that as well. I have no idea what is it. All I can suggest is to take apart the system and give everything a good cleaning and see if that makes a difference.
