Help! What do all these trouble codes mean?

My car flooded (my fault) and it was towed in to the dealer (Oaktree Mazda on Stevens Creek in San Jose). They found a bunch of fault codes, but didn't explain them. I looked around both here and on the web for a list of codes and couldn't find it. Can anyone help?

The codes:

C2778
U1900
U0073 (EPS)
U1900 (EPS)
U1900 (IC)
U2516 (IC)
U1900 RKE
P2101 PCM
U0073 PCM
U0155 PCM
U2516 SASM

Thanks for any help you can give!

I hope you get a nice loaner/rental car

Mr M 11-12-2004 02:37 AM

Those trouble codes can all pop up if you have a flat battery. Basically, they are caused by communication failures with modules, because the modules don't have a sufficient power supply.
Don't worry about them.

JohnO 11-12-2004 10:45 AM

Whew! At first I thought that this enormous list was just MY codes...

The wrecker guy pissed me off! He INSISTED on leaving the key on and the window open a little all the way to the dealer (20 minutes). I'm sure the battery was low already after all the cranking I did to it. I wonder if I should go ahead and put in one of those Optima batteries.

I got a Mazda 3 base model with 20,000 miles and a weak-ass 4 banger. The front seat looked like someone had pee'd on it... I expected better from Hertz.

Thanks for the help! BTW Where did you get the list of codes?

zoom44 11-12-2004 11:32 AM

i think he got it from my thread :)

davefzr 12-18-2004 02:33 PM

Hey.. does anyone know what a P0100 means? I have the CANScan tool and the strange thing is that it says I have no pending trouble codes but then it lists P0100 and doesnt have a definition for it...

Anyone? :) THankx! I also have a CEL and fuel smell to go along with it..

life is grand haha

zoom44 12-18-2004 02:53 PM

since all of the first few p010x codes are for maf circuit trouble

P0101 MAF sensor circuit range/performance problem ON 2 CCM ´
(See DTC P0101 )
P0102 MAF sensor circuit low input ON 1 CCM ´ (See DTC P0102 )
P0103 MAF sensor circuit high input ON 1 CCM ´ (See DTC P0103 )

it's probably something wrong with your mafs. do you have an aftermarket intake?

in the future you can just do a search for "cel codes" and you will find this thread in the results:

https://www.rx8club.com/showthread.p...ight=cel+codes

davefzr 12-18-2004 06:09 PM

Hey.. nah.. I have a stock intake.. I am going to take my car into the dealer tomorrow morning. Hopefully the problem will be fixed this time.

davefzr 12-19-2004 01:30 PM

But how can I get an unlisted code? P0100 has to stand for something.

snap-on 12-19-2004 02:11 PM

Although there were some changes in the 04/05 model yr CEL table..

P0100 is not listed on either.

sco 12-20-2004 03:45 AM

P0100 is listed generically on the internet as an air flow circuit issue. Is your idle very lumpy?

davefzr 12-20-2004 12:18 PM

Sometimes the rpm's will drop below 800 for a second and the car will catch itself and quickly bring the rpm's back up. This happens at idle yes... I am going to take my car in today.

davefzr 12-20-2004 03:37 PM

One other thing is that I got my 30k service about 1 month ago and 3 weeks later my oil light came on so I added 2 quarts of oil to fill it up. Today, a week or so later, I am back to the half way point. There is no way it should be consuming 2 quarts in a matter of weeks.

zoom44 12-20-2004 05:27 PM

noticed any oil dripping? maybe they didnt replace the crush washer? check the airbox for oil there also.

davefzr 12-20-2004 05:42 PM

The strange thing is that I havent noticed any oil dripping at all. I'll check the airbox today.

Here is a screen shot of what I am talking about... This is my CANScan unit interface screen.

snap-on 12-21-2004 01:59 AM

Can the CANScan determine flash level?

I see you started a new thread ref oil usage?

foxy 12-21-2004 03:58 AM

No, sadly not. The Canscan can not determine flashlevel.

davefzr 12-21-2004 09:48 AM

Yeah.. well I didnt start the thread, just revived it from the dead. I am going to take my car into to the dealership this morning.

davefzr 12-21-2004 07:47 PM

Well.. I got my car back and the dealer said that because I used an aftermarket CANScan tool I am getting U error codes on the WDS tool. They also didnt find any of the P0100 or P0003 codes that are listed from my CANScan tool.. HUH? Anyone know what a U error code is?

zoom44 12-21-2004 08:45 PM

dave you have missing oil and a mafs circuit code. imy bet is the MAFS is fouled by your missing oil. get them to pop off the tube and mafs to have a look and clean it.

snap-on 12-21-2004 10:14 PM

https://www.rx8club.com/showpost.php...16&postcount=4

The U-codes pop up when there is a communcation issue between CAN modules..

davefzr 12-21-2004 10:18 PM

1 Attachment(s)
They told me they were caused because I used an outside tool that wasnt an ODBII approved method for access.. (An aftermarket POS basically)

This is our MAF sensor right?

I dont have the K&N.. just stole the pic. used it rather :)
