Hard start after decarbing engine.
So my friend wanted to decarb his engine and I showed him and we did it and now it starts hard, as in it hard to catch to ignite. My car was the same way and I have decarbed my car multiple times and now his is doing it too. I was thinking that the sea foam did something to the plugs and I just wonderin if anyone else has had this problem. Thanks.

Pull the plugs and check them, they're most likely fouled. I ran into that problem when I cleaned my Lower Intake Manifold. My plugs were caked in carbon, and took a good bit of cleaning to get them back in running order.
I'd definitely recommend pulling your plugs and cleaning them if they're fouled, possibly replacing them if they're really bad off. Just be sure to use some decarb to soften up the carbon and clean them with a wire brush with mild brushing and you should be good to go. Hope that helps. |
Did you unbolt the cat converter pipe from the exhaust manifold before performing the procedure?

I'm curious, if you had problems after the procedure, why did you do it multiple times, and show your friend how to do it?
Did you have problems each time? Am I misunderstanding your original post? I have considered doing it in the past, but I've read quite a few posts with owners having problems after doing it. I'm looking for info, not criticizing. Thanks. |
