GReddy Turbo Wastegate install?

Hey so I'm replacing the wastegate unit of the GReddy Turbo kit, and I'm wondering how do you get to it???

I couldn't get to the bolts on the turbo that hold the wastegate. I saw on someone who was replacing their turbo with the BNR upgraded turbo that he disconnected the turbo and moved it up next to the wheel well to put the wastegate on. Is this the only way to take off and replace the wastegate??

From the instructions given by GReddy it seems like you should be able to replace with while the turbo is still attached to the manifold.

Thanks in advance!!

Are you a female by chance?

ohhhh my, if your telling us you have the ORIGINAL turbo that came with the greddy kit, then bought a greddy external wastegate, we have some issues...

I think he/she meant the actuator...

I hope he/she did...

Lol sorry I'm male :beerchug:

Ah ya I meant the actuator haha but yes I do have the original GReddy turbo on there still

Dammit...

oh well...

It's quite a project are you sure the actuator is bad?

Vizard424 11-09-2012 07:56 PM

I'm pretty sure it's the actuator. The boost doesn't stop climbing!

I did have an electronic boost controller attached but I've completely removed it to eliminate any other source of malfunction. I've also detached the actuator from the flapper arm and the flapper moves freely and I've checked for any boost leaks but nothing came up so I'm guessing the actuator has failed? I haven't overlooked something have I?

I'm using a boost gauge getting the signal from the upper intake manifold VFAD source and I do have the GReddy fix on it where I'm pulling the wastegate signal from right after the turbo.

Might have a bad solenoid on the boost gauge.

Have you tried attaching the actuator to the greddy fix nipple?

try that it should go to 7 psi and hold.

Vizard424 11-10-2012 02:24 PM

Ya it's like that right now, but boost will continually shoot past 7 psi...if I'm not careful it goes past 10 psi. And this is with the actuator connected directly to the nipple on the compressed air outlet side of the turbo
