Gas meter

I've done a bit of searching and haven't found a post on it. I know that the one in the 8 isn't really accurate since I'd be driving at let's say quarter tank and a few minutes later I'd see the needle go up to 1 quarter and a half. This is an 04 tigray.

Before the flames begin to sprout, I am aware that this forum has seen many "is this normal threads" and I'm just adding to the list.

So what are you asking? What's the point of this thread?

The RX-8's fuel tank is divided, basically a hump in the middle as it hangs over the driveshaft/exhaust tunnel. The gauge sensor is only on one side. The color of your RX-8 has zero impact on the design of your gas tank.

Thank you for the insight. I know the color has no impact and it has become a habit to state the year and the color for me. I put the year as it usually helps identify things due to the changes that occur year to year.

No gas gauge is terribly accurate, the one on the RX-8 is worse than some, most notably due to the tank design as mentioned above not necessarily due to the gauge itself.

You will mostly notice changes as you go up or down hill. When riding on a level surface, it should be relatively consistent.

Every vehicle I have owned has been subject to this some thing, not just the 8.

Mine does the same thing after the car heats up a bit...No big deal...As long as it isn't reading 3/4 when you have 1/4 of a tank, then I see no problem...
