Gargling issues

Hey guys,

I have a 2004 Rx8 with 106,000 miles in the beast, Engine is new with only 10,000 miles on her. Has Greddy exhaust and Racing beat intake and duct. Issue is once car is driven for say 30 mins to warm her up any time i go to floor it and it passes 4 RPMs it starts to cut back (power loss) and make a raspy gargling sounds. Then if i put it in neutral while driving and take it to 8 rpm a few times it clears up until i put it back and gear and try going again, Any ideas? I was thinking maybe it was the Catalytic converter getting clogged but unsure. Any ideas would be much appreciated Thanks guys!!!!

First thing I would check is the intake for fluid (water or oil).
Then clean the MAF sensor.
I've heard similar "gargling" sounds when a rush of water hit my MAF sensor during acceleration.

No water or oil, I have an oil catch can.

Since you have a RB intake with duct and eliminated the VFAD, check the nipple behind the throttle body and verify its still capped or that there are no cracks on the cap itself.
Might want to still clean the MAF just to rule out the easy stuff too.

Well, Gutted the cat last night and car runs 100% better now, Quicker throttle response, Louder tone, AND NO GARGLING!!!!! Waaaa hooooooooooo. So now off to order a high performance cat :)

I've the same issue too. The gargling noise comes after 7rpm in 2nd gear, 6rpm in 3rd gear and can't seem to get pass it. I can only get rid of it if i redlind it slowly for a few times. do u manage to solve this permanently? I have re-amemiya header, amuse catback exhaust, and HKS racing suction.
Is it better to get the hiflow catalytic converter? Is it making any faster?

I plan on getting a Hiflow shortly this is just a temporary fix. It did make it alot faster but that is probably because it was clogged for a while and I just got used to it being slower haha But if you have a higher mileage rx8 I would recommend taking a look at it :)

My car has only done for 3500kms. It's quite new since i've seldom driven it. maybe that gives a problem too.. is it better to use the hiflow??
