TL;DR version to catch people up:

Gas smell began to fill my cabin and the car began to buck due to lack of fuel. had a problem with my fuel line or fuel rail and I was in the process of investigating the issue.

*UPDATE*

After removing the air intake, throttle body, UIM, and LIM we discovered that after turning the key to the “on” position to prime the fuel injectors we could hear and see a large amount of fuel pouring on to the engine right where the two screws are on the fuel rail. see picture below:

Attachment 290276

(sorry I am no ace photographer =_=)Where my index finger is pointing to is a loose screw that was right at the source of where the fuel was pouring out from. We tightened the bolt and then put everything back together thinking that was the root of my problems. after tightening the bolt, that area no longer was spraying fuel out when the engine was primed. we pushed the car out into the driveway out of the garage and proceeded to fire her up for the first time in two weeks.

the results were… less than what I had expected..
Crank took longer than it should have and the engine started up all right for a few seconds until the “check engine light” came on and I plugged my OBDII reader in and was getting two throttle body error codes and a lean in one of the chambers code. this all took about 45 seconds to get the readings, all the while the engine was running fine and I even got a few revs to about 4,000 RPM out of her before we noticed fuel leaking from under the car again. At this point I immediately turned off the car and started to notice fuel leaking out the bottom in the same place at we just tightened.

I am beginning to think that this is now a cracked fuel rail, or a blown injector ring? I did not notice any cracks or problems with the rail from above when I took the picture. From what I do know is that my engine WAS replaced under Mazda warranty in 2012 and from what we could see under the hood they did a half ass job of it because there is tape in places where it should not belong such as the coils, spark plugs, and even my MAF sensor is missing its O-ring…

Anyone know of the best place online to get a kit for replacing the fuel injectors? or a new fuel rail? i'm thinking of just replacing the whole thing. please let me know if anyone thinks differently.

get an injector seal kit from your local dealership.

same answer as in the other thread, you could try a 3rd party parts store but there's never a guarantee that the seals will be a perfect fit like OEM will be. a small amount of vaseline on the o-rings during installation will help prevent them from being torn.

as for the codes, make sure everything gets plugged back in exactly how it came apart, vacuum leaks and loose connections will cause erratic codes to pop up.

Looks like the hose to me which is a known problem. But do all the seals while your in there

Your telling me =_=

Thanks for all the great feedback everyone. I just had one more question. I have been seeing different types of fuel rails, fuel distributors, and injectors online... but I have no idea which one to get.

For example, I saw one fuel distributor that had 4 hoses going out of it, and one that had only two... some fuel rails seem to come in different shapes and sizes which has me very confused

I know i have a standard powered 13b MSP and a MT... I could use some guidance on where to go from there... I would like to replace the injector seals, fuel rail, ad the distributor... but this will be my first go and any guidance would be much appreciated

Just use stock fuel rail. Injectors are good for over 300whp so no need to upgrade unless your going for stupid power levels with a huge turbo.

!!! I lost my engine playing in this area :'(:'( fuel leak was probably coming from the fuel line connector with the red clip on it. I would def replace...fuel pressure is very high right their and if the inner seal/ lock is fuckdd at all. The line will blow off and id your me, it'll be at the most incovient time. LOL, but that's not Wut took mt engine =X... While I was cleaning the uim, ssv, tb, etc...i decided "hey, y not pull the fuel injectors and running sum cleaning solution through them?" everything went fine...car ran great for another week, then a block away from my house second rotor seals blew out... Fuel injector o rings got pinched or didnt seat properly and with engine vibration eventually got severed? (I'm assuming, cuz both o rings were torn) and it didn't take long for debris to get sucked in and say hey "fuck you!" to my night :'(....i still haven't gotten over it lol

This has got to be one of the most creative ways to express ones thoughts...

I know my engine is still under warranty so if she blows then i'm covered until August of this year =D

Really sorry for your problems m8

logalinipoo 03-25-2014 01:26 PM

Its only covered until they see the aftermatket injectors.

starhel1 03-26-2014 01:59 PM

Or aftermarket license plate frame...
they'll find a way to void the warranty lol
