Fuel line issue
1 Attachment(s)
I have had a "fuel" smell for a few days. Noticed it mostly when the car sat in the driveway.
I searched and found a few threads with suggestions on what to look for. I found the supply fuel line fitting at the pump outlet is leaking and the tank is covered in fuel. Can I replace seals in the fitting or do I need the whole line assembly? I am going to get the line fitting tool and take it apart tomorrow to see what it looks like but I have not worked with lines like this other than an old Ford 302 and they were a little different. |
Got it squared away. Turns out there is a pin hole directly 6 o'clock on the fuel pump nipple just behind the lip that the quick connect locks onto.
For the time being, I cut the nipple just behind the lip right where the pin hole was. I then sanded about 5/8" of the nipple to create a channel. I fitted a piece of 5/16" fuel injection line onto the nipple and tightened a mini t-bolt clamp onto the line right in the groove I sanded into the nipple. The other end of the line was fitted over the factory barbed end on the hard line that goes under the car. |
