Front Main Seal, OC2, and coils
'04 RX8 GT
I took my 8 into the shop three days ago because the CEL came on, and I was experiencing an oil leak. After a day of diagnostics they told me the front main seal has gone out, the O2 sensor died, and the coils all need to be replaced. I was told that if I am experiencing power loss that they will replace the motor if the pressure level was low. Does anyone know what the normal combustion pressure is? Just for the sake of argument when I go back to the dealer. Also, with the new replacements is it known that they have improved the seals? Heat distribution, etc. I have 25K left on my warranty and was thinking of selling before I hit that point. |

they are going to actually let a "mechanic" replace the seal?
|
I think they will replace the seal..it's not rocket science...
They replaced mine.......and even did it right the first time :) |
They are going to replace the seal, had to have warranty adjuster look at it before they approved it... $2200 for all the work!
I don't quite know why they aren't checking compression prior to replacing the seal.... But I guess the dealership needs the money. I am going to request a compression test on monday before they go any further. It seems like a more common problem than it should be. Thank you for the posts! |
front main seal is easy, nice labor time for it too.
