Forgot to reconnect air filter electrical connector.
So basically i forgot to reconnect the the eletrical connector after checking the air filter. The engine, battery and 'car with swiggly lines' lights were on. I drove it for a bit hoping the lights would go away. I checked the engine bay and realised the electrical connector was disconnected, reconnected it and all of the warning lights disappeared except for the engine light.
Has anyone else done this? If so, what should i do next? |
1) After driving the car for three drive cycles without the CEL causing condition present, the PCM will clear the CEL
or 2) The CEL can be read and cleared immediately with a code reader which you can borrow from some Advance Auto Parts locations. |
try disconect the battery for 10 mins.

thanks, but im not asking for ways to get rid of the engine light. I wanna know if I've potentially damaged the engine in any way.

I doubt that driving with the IAT/MAF sensors disconnected would cause any engine damage.
How did the car run with the IAT/MAF sensors disconnected? |
When i started it, the revs wobbled below 1000 revs for a few seconds and then went up to 2500 revs for about 10 seconds and then slowly went back down to 1000. Which isnt what it normally does (normally just jumps up to 3000 and then slowly drops back down to 1000, when starting cold)
After turning it off after taking it around the block a few times, it would start, revs would go up to 1500 and then immediatly die. I also noticed that i couldnt really stay in 2nd when coming up to a intersection cos it felt as if the car would die |
sweet, thanks

LOL. No damage would happen at all... Pretty sure. Next time, double check that you reconnected everything.
