Failed Cat?
 

Alright so I have an 04 w/ about 65k that I've had for about 2 months now.

There is literally miniscule power in the 3000-4500 range (like takes a full 2 seconds to get through sometimes), the idle is very rough (though that might be coils as well), there is a burning smell which is hard to describe, best I could say is imagine burning all the way through the rubber brakes you had on your bike as I kid.

As I was driving it today I got a CEL which blinked about 5 times for 20 seconds after I took it up to about 8500-9000 in 1st and then went back to normal. I tried but I couldn't get it to pop up again. I then drove for about 40 minutes keeping the revs above 4k most of the time (partly because I was out for a joyride) when I got back I turned the car off, checked underneath and the cat was all glowwy (or atleast the o2 sensor or whatever that little nub thing is, looked like a cigarette lighter) I started it back up, just to check compression and it was normal (at least for me)

I'm pretty sure that's a failed cat but if its something else feel free to let me go.

Now the real questions are, wheres the best place Metrowest Boston to get the codes pulled (or should I just go straight to the dealer)?

And more importantly... what are the details on the exhaust warranty, I've gotten mixed reports on whether they'll replace failed CATS.
