Expected Engine life
I realize that the RENESIS engine is relatively new but the earlier rotary is not. Can anyone comment on what kind of engine life can be expected ??? Other Japanese piston engines expect run for 200K plus miles properly maintained.

Mazda figure they will last at least 60K miles ;)
I think the higher mileage 04's are getting up into the 100+K area now.... Will depend on how well you look after it.............. |
Lambert RX8 will probably be now over 150,000 miles and still runing fine.
So if properly maintained, at least 150,000 miles (and probably much more) :) Cheers jird20 |
I'm gunning for 200,000 out of mine.

ill be happy if my 8 last as long as my 240....1990 s13 with 233k miles on it and still runnin...

Well I took amazing care of mine and I just had the engine replaced, I blew a seal. Mine was an 04 I hope the new engine will last longer than 58,000 miles.

I take car of mine and my first motor went at 30K and the second at 35K and now on my third motor.

To answer your very astute question, the renesis will last 2 miles, so it's worth it. Anything less is nothing more than a misuse of your money that THEY will perform.
|
your driving habits also have a lot to do with how long it will live, same as any engine

Mine is running strong @ 38K miles. |
Just to make it clear the first motor went at 30K and the second motor lasted for 35K so i got the third motor at 65K

Seriously though, how do you blow an apex seal on a 30k rotary engine. Someone needs to interpret for me or something. We act like these are some mystical engines. The seals don't just blow. I've seen apex seals break from detonation. I've seen them warp from temperature and pressure. I've seen them get worn from many miles of useage and insufficient lubrication. I'd like to correct the myths that surround rotaries. People are fearful they may blow an apex seal; it doesn't work that way.

^ plus judging by your pic some of those miles are on track getting pushed more than normal driving
|
I'm the only one in this thread who will make it to 200,000 miles.
