Engine rev up problem.

I have just rebuilt my 2005 Rx8 engine (13b). After rebuilding it I started the car but the engine doesn’t rev up above 3-4k rpm and it just drowns in petrol. :icon_no2: I checked the fuel injectors- they are ok. I dismounted the engine and totally disassembled it but everything is perfect. So I know that the problem I have isn’t from inside the engine. And that gets me to where I’m now.. the electronics.
There is no warning light for an engine problem from the car’s computer. :dunno:
The engine is stock.
Please help. :)

Did you recheck the coil placement? Right plugs? Wires routed properly?

I agree with 9k, check that stuff, but don't forget to check the fuel lines and so on. It might even be the computer. Make sure that you don't have to do any special procedure when putting a new engine in also.

Come on guys, give me a hint.. :wavey:

Has anyone else had this problem before ?

reset your NVRAM and see if it helps at all, most likely wont since you rebuilt it and probably reused your old crank pulley/plate. other then that more info is needed, just cause the CEL isn't on doesnt mean codes may not be stored.

It wouldn't be the cat would it? Are you by chance using an old cat that's clogged?
