Engine noise - belts?
Hi there,
My 2007 231PS has started making engine noises which are quite audible even from 20 metres away. I thought it was more of a ticking and now I'm thinking more of a belt issue. Video: https://cimg4.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.rx8...de9d4cf3bd.jpg If it is a belt issue can anyone confirm why this might have just started? Will I need some new belts? I read someone mentioned water pump, is that a common failure? Thanks |
Does no one have any ideas?
Thanks |
Now I've got this sound.. Any ideas?
Thanks |
possibly a bad SSV shaft actuator arm at the lower front of the intake manifold. If the actuator arm becomes loose on the shaft the idle will cause the SSV assembly to shutter back & forth in the loose actuator arm hole. The sound you may here is the shaft clanking back & forth in the wallowed out actuator arm hole. See picture below of where the arm/actuator shaft are.

Now for a stupid question - is it possible to actuate the accelerator from the engine bay? e.g. gently pull the throttle butterfly or similar near the intake, like you would do on an old car. A even silly question.. this car isn't drive-by-wire is it?? Cheers |
