Engine light flashed at around 7000RPM

Hey everyone,

I did some searching on the forum to see if anyone else experienced this but it turns out my searching ability sucks ass! :)

So a few weeks ago, somebody in my household started/stopped my car w/o my permission and did not let it warmed up. Last week I go to start the car and no start, it was flooded (first time in 2 years, i'm still pissed off at that!). So I take it to the dealer, they replace the spark plugs say it's all good I grab the car it starts no issues(actually started better than the first day i got it :)

Now today, I took the car out, didn't drive it since the weekend. I was accelerating in 3rd gear and as soon as I got to about 7k RPM the engine light began to flash and the throttle didn't work anymore

I let off the gas, coasted a bit and the throttle response came back after about 10 secs of coasting. I tested it out again and it felt really really weird between 7000 - 8000 so i let off and then just chilled the rest of the way in.

Is this caused by detonation? Or could it be the opening of the last 2 ports in the engine? I'm going to bring it in so they can check the code but i'm hoping someone else has experienced this and could shed some light encase they act stupid in front of me..

Any help is appreciated, thanks!@

misfire-huge misfire. the car put a clamp of the rpm until it felt better about itself. get it checked.

read your manual about what it says to do if your CEL flashes at you

Yeah, everyone always says mis-fire when someone asks about a flashing CEL at high rpms. How'd you miss all those threads. I'm sure searching brings up every flash revision issue we've ever discussed too, but some of these are recent which brings me to my point -

Where are the folks who've gone to the dealer for mis-fire lately? MikeB - you were one, right?

Did the dealer confirm the code was misfire?

What did the dealer say about it?

Did the dealer do anything to the car (parts, additives)?

The dealer can't say 7000rpm is abuse and cannot say, 'don't do that again.' What do they do?

i'm bringing it back to the dealer in the next day or so.. But this has never happened to me before.. I was trying to search on the following criteria "check engine light 7000rpm" and couldn't really find anything pertaining to my exact problem.

Thanks for the info, i'll let you guys know what happens, i really hope it's nothing to bad because this car has been perfect up until the other week when the engine was flooded :(
So it's probably nothing :)

I often find that if I use too many search terms I get 0 hits. By the time I drop down to two search terms I get 11,000 hits. Plus, I'm amazed at the false-hits. Funny what you find.

Anyway, good luck at the dealer. Hopefully it's no big.

Yeah, and only 85 results, not 11,000. Whoops, I exaggerated (or should I say, "ack! thhhhp!") :)
