Engine Harness routing
 

I am putting an engine back together and have gotten stumped as to where these things go. Any help would be really appreciated!

The black harness is connected to the frame brace and seems to only have one (2?) spade attachment. Its a female plug.

The white harness is also in route with 2 grounding terminals. I don't know where or what direction to route this line and also what the white harness connects to. Female plug as well.

The car is a manual transmission. The electrical diagram doesn't seem to show where these wires are routed. Unless, I have overlooked it =(

Those attach to the fuse box...the spades to the 2 studs in the rear passenger corner...the plug behind them

Which one attaches to the fuse box?
Isnt fuse box on the drivers side? Rear passenger corner would be on the ECU side.

The other connector you have circled by itself on the left plugs into the positive battery post terminal connector assembly. I believe it provides power to the radiator fans.

Teamrx8: the black connector seemed to have nothing close to it at all that it attaches to. It splits off from another white one that you mentioned on the positive side. That one I found, but this black one seems to have no where else to connect to, its odd. Ill keep digging around

I'm at work and can't see your pic (work blocks photobucket and other image servers).
But I just recently installed a motor and remember a black connector that had me stumped for a few seconds.
It plugged into the bottom of the 60A EPS fuse holder on the positive wire near the battery.

Sorry for thread revival, but where does the ground that is along the same line as the starter wires connect to? Cannot find a spot to bolt it to that it will reach. Last thing before starting the car again after rebuild.

That one attaches to the bolt beside the coolant drain bolt....

Thanks dannobre, that was it. There is a little bracket by the coolant drain on the driver's side of the car next to the motor mount. If you took that bracket off, there is a bolt for the installation of the bracket that the ground does not attach to. The small 10mm hole on the upper end of the bracket and 10mm bolt is for the ground.

I've been lurking this forum for a while and need to revive this old thread for some help. I am putting the engine back into my '04, 4 port auto after taking it out about 2 years ago...long story that involves vodka and divorce lawyers...

Anyway, I'm down to a couple wires I can't remember disconnecting and am hoping one of you guys can steer me in the right direction:

They are on the same branch off the wire harness with the oil temp sensor, the sensor that is in the oil pan. They must connect to something, somewhere near the oil filter but after scratching my head for a couple hours I had to step away (go to work).

Oil pressure switch....look down below oil filter pedestal

and knock sensor... bolts to the rear housing...

Can anyone tell me where the brass terminal just to the left of the terminal that connects to the alt in this picture goes? If it’s a ground is it body or engine? I just replaced my engine in my 04 and am at a loo

I think it mounts on the lower LH/driver side of the engine by the oil pan because that’s the section back to the starter, let me look for a picture.

I always unbolt the lower bolt from the block and then that metal grounding tab is on the end of it. So it was always obvious to me where it went. I never really thought that other bolting point you’re asking about before because of this. It seemed obvious though because of the other reference picture and it being on the lower end of the starter wiring. HTHs.

Thank u so much!! I can't get this thing to crank over no matter what. I'm not getting power to the red and blue wire that goes to the starter. Its an auto so I can't bump start it!

Can anyone offer a degree of difficulty to DIY changing a damaged engine harness?
I'm assuming I'll have to jack it up and remove the undertray.
Taking into consideration I'm getting old with a bad back and new knees.

Engine harness isn't too bad. Likely the hardest access is the transmission switch plugs and the O2 sensor that are mounted on the back of the harness. Most of the rest are decent. Easier to remove the upper intake to access the injectors and coil plugs..

I am modifying the fuse box/battery harness and there was a big blue and yellow wire, which I kept but there was also a red and yellow wire, blue and white wire then just a black wire, which I removed because and if I remember correctly, it was to a connector I didn’t need Do I need those wires contemplating
