Engine dies while on highway

I searched and found some similar(ish) posts but not quite what I think I may have, at least as far back as I searched.

I was driving home from work at 8:30PM this night (dark out), I have all my lights on, listening to the iPod and just cruising around 60MPH around 3000rpm. With no warning engine stops, tach drops to 0 and then DSC (flashing) and TSC come on. The battery/alt and CEL light also light up (but thats standard for a non-running car).

Come to a stop and the car no longer starts, I turn the ignition and hear a pair of loud clicks, but no indication that its actually trying to start. All lights/electronics still work just fine, and they worked fine from when the engine stopped, it took me a couple seconds to realize that something was amiss when driving because all of my electronics were still working and there were no out of the norm noises.

It is a 2007 MT with about 47k miles. I replaced the coils last summer, and was planning on replacing them again sometime this month (along wire wires and plugs) for the summer.

My thoughts would be alternator (Belts appear to be fine). Maybe battery? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Update: Threw in a new battery and starts up no problem. Got the alternator checked out; 13.84 (no load) and 13.72 (with load). From my understanding thats a tad on the low side, or am I fine?
