Does Mazda cover engine flooding?
 

My car is a 2005 and I would like to know if Mazda covers engine flooding, if so until how long?

you could have looked it up yourself, or called Mazda to find that out instead of asking here and waiting for a response, which is no.

Depends on what you mean by flooding.

If you have low compression that is causing your car to have a hard time starting, that leads to it getting flooded, and you're still under the extended powertrain warranty, then yes, you are covered.

If you mean you flooded your car by not driving it, with several quick starts and shutoffs, then no, you are long out of the warranty period for that type of assistance.

Auto or manual? Recent maintenance? How did it flood?
Manual RX8s got a higher RPM starter mid 2005. Check your starter part number with a search here.

It isn't hard to de-flood them once you've done it once.

Pull the plugs and dry them with air or brake cleaner.
Pull the fuel relay and ESS connector
Place clean white paper towel in front of the plug holes during cranking.
Crank the engine, with plugs out, in 10 second bursts: wait a minute between cranking.
Consider using a charger cuz this can take a lot of cranking.
When the paper towel stays clean during cranking you are ready to reinstall the plugs, fuel relay, ESS connector and start the engine.

What makes you presume that I didn't search on google before posting? And do you think I wanna call mazda in my area where they tell me that my clutch isn't under recall? You should do your research before assuming that I didn't do mine. The only thing I found was this guy who had a 100 000mile warranty for flooding onrx8club.com. But thanks for the anwser :)

Thx guys, it's just that I've already flooded my engine, to deflood I press the gas pedal and crank until the noise of the crank changes (max 10 seconds), then I stop 10 seconds and restard without pressing gas then my engine starts and makes alot of smoke lol. I just wanted to know if I get my engine changed under the 8 years core warranty, will they change my coils and plugs?

well there's only about 3 different stickies that cover the 8yr/100k engine core warranty, 8yr/100k clutch pedal warranty, and the standard bumper to bumper warranty in depth. That's how i know that you didn't do your research.

You've been a member since 2009? You have no excuse for not knowing how to find the answer. Here i just assumed you were just a regular newb.

They will only change your coil and plugs if you pay them to do it.
They might require you to buy new coils and plugs before they will agree to replace your engine.

But, if you KNOW you need new coils and plugs, and that is what is causing your flooding issue, then why don't you just replace them now, and see if that cures your flooding issue?

And finally, if you're still within the engine core warranty period (8 years from in service date, or 100k miles, whichever comes first), you would be doing yourself a disservice by not getting a compression test done, if you think the engine is questionable. Just make sure you have your oil change receipts available, in case they ask for them.

Flooding is a symptom. It's not a problem. The won't cover "flooding", but the REASON it flooded may be covered under a warranty.

It's like running out of gas. The car shutting off is a symptom, not the problem that caused it.

Last time I was in the dealer they payed for it, but I don't ever recall seeing a bulletin for just the fouled plugs. It's a rotary, there's no way around it, it's the nature of the beast when you deal with cold air.

There is no 8 year warranty for plugs and coils.

At no time have plugs ever been covered under warranty. They are a wear item.

The coils are also a wear item, however they aren't explicitly stated as a wear item so some people have gotten warranty coverage for them. Any coverage is under BUMPER TO BUMPER for them though. Doesn't even get powertrain. Their is an 8 year warranty extension for the engine core only (as in the engine block itself) and for the clutch pedal bracket. Any other warranty you have through a 3rd party will probably have different rule sets.

But in the arlingtonmazda.com(the link above) they state at page 15 that there's a warranty? I don't understand anymore...

Scroll up to the bottom of the page before. It is discussing engine replacement. THAT is what is covered. Not the plugs/coils.

Oh ok ok thx anyways I don't know how long I will be keeping my rx8, gonna get a job that will make me travel alot, gonna go for a more economic car haha

I flipped the switch, and I thought it was going to be a nice bright 100 watt light bulb, but why does it seem like its still so dark in here?
