I forgot to rotate them, so I repleced the rear tires with same make/model as original. Now if I throw it even rather gently into a turn, not tire squealing stuff, just what it was made to do, a get an intermittant rumble in the front and obvious handling change - it feels like the TCS/DSC is engaging. What did I do and what do I do? Thanks.

i had this when i put new tires in the back and kept older tires in front. same tires. im not really sure, but it went away shortley.

Someone on here told me it may be the TCS/DSC engaging due to the differemt im size. i guess 50% worn tires compaired to new tires canmake a difference on the TCS/DSC

The DSC/TSC is picking up that the front and rear wheels are rotating at different rates.

Your front tyres are no doubt worn somewhat and have a specific rolling radius, your new tyres will have a larger one. It is significant enough to kick in the DSC/TSC.

Did you replace your rears with the same as what was on there? ie 225/45/18 with the same?

Thank you. Yes, I replaced with identical tires - figured I'd wear down the rest of the front tires and then replace all four with a best rated that doesn't end up costing me $375 per tire. Best advice seems to be to live with it or turn off the electronics untill I put some wear on the new rear ones. Darn sensitive system!

I don't think its not that sensitive. Take a tyre such as the Toyo Proxes 4. 225/45/18. It has an OD of 658mm and 7.9mm of tread depth.

Brand new that equates to a circumference of 2067mm when brand new. If you wore this down to only 1.5mm of tread depth, you would change the OD from 658mm to 645mm. This equates to a circumference of 2026mm. So in doing this you have a tyre that now moved 4cm less for every rotation of the tyre.

When you add in that when you go around a corner one tyre is already moving faster than the other I don't think its unreasonable for this behaviour.

Its a good argument for regular rotation and alignment of your tyres.

Got this problem atm myself although it is from having a larger tyre size at the rear
255x40R18 vs 245x40 R18 . I have been wheelspinning the rear tyres a lot trying to wear them down to be close enough in diameter so as not to affect the DSC . Need to do some burnouts LOL

Absolutely, and what I should have done in the first place. I was new to high performance tires and let the wear on the rear wheels sneak up on me. Now I'm trying to get back to where I can start over with a matched set of four, rotate them frequently, and wear them all out at the same time.

Good luck with that! Assuming identical brand tyres, ie tread depths, etc, you are going to have to wear the larger tyres (Circumference 2077mm/OD 661mm) down 4mm (ie half the actual tread) to match the smaller tyre (Circumference 2052mm/OD 653mm).

Just had this issue again recently . Replaced rear tyres with new ones and DSC was activating a lot . This time I thought I'd just swap the tyres front to rear so the more worn out ones would wear right out quicker and I would then replace them .
Funny thing is , now DSC is back to normal ! So ................ I think Mazda engineered the DSC so you could put slightly larger (less worn) tyres on the front .
Good to know if you want to get all the wear you can from your tyres.

I can more or less back this up. I previously encountered this issue on my first car. After the TPMS valve broke off in my front right in my current one I replaced both the front tires with Eagle Sports (all they had) and left the pretty well worn kumho ecsta's on the rear. I was worried about the DSC/TCS issues but I did not run into anything like I did with my first. After taking the tires off, the front tires are definitely a bit noticeably bigger than the rear.
